We participate in the City of Winnipeg Spay and Neuter
program
This is a program that started December 1,2009. It allows people that have adopted
a pet from the City of Winnipeg to have their newly adopted pet spayed or neutered and the cost of the surgery is included
in the adoption fee.
Participating clinics perform the spays and neuter at a discounted rate for the City of Winnipeg.
We are registered with the "This season is FUR everyone" program
This
is a program though the Manitoba Veterinary Medical Association and the Christmas Cheer Board that encourages the public to
make pet food donations at participating Veterinary Clinics. All donated pet food will be delivered to the Christmas
Cheer Board where families with pets who come in to pick up a Christmas Hamper can access the pet food supply. Any food
remaining after the holiday season will be donated to the companion animal committee.
We routinely host blood
donor clinics through the Canadian Animal Blood Bank.
All of our donors are loved animals volunteered by their owners. Did you know the Canadian Animal Blood Bank (CABB)
is the largest animal blood bank in Canada? Just one unit of blood can save up to four other
dogs in Canada!
When hosting the blood donor clinic at our facility, our staff is responsible for the recruitment of donors, performing
the blood collection for donation, and educating our clients about this life saving support therapy.
Join the pack! If you think your dog is a potential donor, please visit the CABB website:
www.rrc.mb.ca/abb OR to register your pet as a donor, please contact our staff!
A scholarship has been set up at the local high school for any student interested in pursuing a career in
the field of Veterinary Medicine.
We feel it is important to educate our youth about the options available to students today who are interested in entering
a career in Veterinary Medicine. Our staff visits the schools to talk about their chosen careers in Veterinary Office
Assistant, Animal Health Technology and Veterinarian.
We support the Career Education Program.
This program allows students to gain job experience in the field of Veterinary Medicine and we hope to inspire students
to pursue a career in Veterinary Medicine, from Veterinary Office Assistant, Veterinarian, or Animal Health Technologist.
We are registered with the Doggone Safe- Be A Tree- Program.
This is a
free program that can be delivered from our staff to educate school age children on how to
prevent dog bites. Our staff understands how important it is to be properly educated on how to behave around animals
and we are proud to be a part of this bite prevention program! For more information on Doggone Safe, please visit their
website at:
www.doggonesafe.com OR if you are interested in booking a presentation, please contact our staff!
We support local fundraising and charities.
Dr. Mander understands the importance of supporting our community and donates his services to a number of local
fundraising events around town.
September,2009, our staff participated in the CIBC Run for the Cure.
